It's been too long since you received insider-only information; time to remedy that.
Motivation.
It's amazing when you have it and when you don't, you want to know how to get it back.
I've said it before that motivation is perishable. It's not limitless and doesn't appear on demand. Yes, there are things we can do to ignite it and stoke the fire (click that link for more information), but it's not always there, no matter what we do.
When motivation is absent, sometimes the only solution is to show up and do the work.
Call it discipline. Call it fortitude. Call it being a relentless badass. Call it whatever you want, but sometimes that's what has to be done.
Granted, there are days I don't feel like doing a workout, so I won't. But that's not a sensible option to do week after week. It's OK here or there (sometimes we need rest more than a workout, or a relaxing walk instead of a challenging weight lifting workout) but obviously isn't what you want to be your go-to choice when you don't feel up to taking care of yourself (e.g., doing that workout, making good food choices, etc.).
So if you find yourself getting into a stretch of making less-than-ideal choices when it comes to food or working out, it's OK. Don't beat yourself up over it. But start doing something productive, even if the motivation isn't there.
Show up, and do something. It doesn't have to be the best workout of your life, but just do something to get you started. There's a good chance that taking action will lead to motivation.
Thank you for reading. I hope you're having a wonderful July.
Your friend,
Nia
