I Love to Romanticize My Daily Routine—Here Are 3 Easy Ways to Do It

"Anyone who knows me knows I watch a lot of movies—romantic comedies, to be specific. I love the way they can evoke different emotions out of me, and while it is easy to be swept away by a captivating storyline on a big screen, I think it's equally important to feel like your life can be just as special. When I think about what makes rom-coms so mesmerizing, it is how they portray the little moments in life. So I've decided to start finding the beauty in all of those little things in my own life. To me, romanticizing my life isn't about being the main character, but it's about being the director of my own movie—that movie being my life. My day-to-day is no longer about speeding through my routine just to get to the weekend. Rather, it's about taking in every moment and finding pleasure in all the in-between snippets of my life that I might've never noticed because I prioritized existing rather than truly living.

When starting the journey of romanticizing your life, it really begins with small acts of kindness for yourself. In case you're not sure where to start, I'm sharing my personal tips for romanticizing your everyday routine. I started implementing these three simple practices that have elevated my life significantly…"

1. I make a nice dinner for myself every week

Over the past couple of years, I definitely became a victim of "hustle culture" and making a point to advance certain areas in my life, while neglecting others. I was only concerned with how I can move quickly and efficiently, and that meant eating out a lot, skipping meals, and purchasing prepared meals at the grocery store. Eating became a means for fuel, and I forgot how special it is to sit with yourself or with your loved ones to eat a home-cooked meal.

Since using Blue Apron, I have not only found so much joy in preparing myself a delicious meal, but also in knowing exactly what is going into my body. Every Blue Apron recipe comes with all the ingredients you need, and there is a huge collection of recipes to choose from—which keeps daily life refreshing and fun with new cuisines and flavors. Taking in every sound, every scent, and every bite of my Blue Apron meals has made me so much more present in my life and has been an amazing way to take time to myself, for myself.

2. I make vision boards

Sometimes it's so easy to live inside your own head, and oftentimes, what you want to see happen for yourself never actually leaves your brain. Something that has really helped me value my life is creating a vision board that creatively displays my dreams and aspirations. Whether it be a Pinterest board or something physical you can hang in your room, having your visions live outside of your mind is a great way to constantly remind yourself that you can achieve everything you want for yourself. Being able to visually and passionately connect with your dreams is the biggest way to spur you into action!

3. I create music playlists based on my current mood, or when I had a good day

Like movies, songs have a real way of bringing out all kinds of emotions. For every moment in your life, I can guarantee there is an artist or a band who has experienced something similar and conveyed it in a song that you can connect with. Whether I'm in great spirits or feeling kind of blue, I love curating playlists that correspond with how I'm feeling. It reminds me of how all-consuming my emotions can be and how beautiful it is to feel every feeling. Acknowledging my emotions, rather than burying them, has been a great way of getting to know myself better and taking control of my life and how it plays out.
