In March, 26-year-old Breonna Taylor was shot five times by Louisville police officers, while asleep in her bed. Today, a grand jury indicted Brett Hankison on charges of wanton endangerment. According to The New York Times, "No charges were announced against the other two officers who fired shots that night, and no one was charged for causing her death."
Hankison was charged with "wanton endangerment", not murder. According to the Kentucky State Legislature, "A person is guilty of wanton endangerment in the first degree when, under circumstances manifesting extreme indifference to the value of human life, he wantonly engages in conduct which creates a substantial danger of death or serious physical injury to another person."
